Time: Wednesday 10:45 - 12:00

Location: Metro 1

Abstract:

The landscape of the web as a platform is changing at a dizzying pace these days. From hundreds of new web APIs, to new development tools, to a myriad of competing services calling themselves "platforms", keeping up isn't easy.

In this session we'll take a top-down look at this space in order to get an up-to-date overview of major players, technologies and trends.

  • Who are the leaders in the web API and platform as a service (PaaS) markets?
  • Who's providing the next generation tools for building apps on these platforms?
  • What are the primary debates and issues? What are the key technology trends and where should you look to see where this is headed?
