Presentation: "Web 2.0 Trends For the Next Generation: Laszlo Revealed"

Time: Wednesday 17:15 - 18:15

Location: Cornell

Abstract:

With the proliferation of emerging client technologies on the market today, developers have multiple options for creating rich Internet applications (RIAs) and enhanced user experiences. In this session, attendees will learn why open source solutions are prevailing, where the market is heading with online versus offline capabilities, and what architectural requirements should be investigated before starting to build Web 2.0 applications.

Having founded Laszlo Systems in 2000, David Temkin will provide specifics on OpenLaszlo's multi-runtime platform, which can be compiled to either Flash or to Dynamic HTML (commonly known as Ajax) and includes elegant data-binding mechanisms, an expressive animation facility, and a full set of UI widgets. He will also describe the company's new vision for the Web 2.0 desktop, called Laszlo Webtop, and show how the line between the browser and the desktop is becoming blurred.

Attendees will get a chance to view a Webtop demo, as well as several live Ajax applications from leading corporations such as Walmart, H&R Block, IBM, Verizon, and others.
