Presentation: "Yahoo! Communities Architecture: Unlikely Bedfellows"

Time: Friday 11:00 - 12:00

Location: Metropolitan I

Abstract:

The main feature that makes the Yahoo! Architecture unique is the wide variation in application architecture. The Yahoo! platform consists of widely varied applications running on a common infrastructure. Java coexists with PHP, platforms from FreeBSD to Linux to Solaris are supported, and small applications share data centers with huge sites like mail and search.

This talk will discuss how Yahoo! Communities applications integrate with the overall platform, and how they meet their scalability and reliability goals in a heterogeneous computing environment.
