Social Events at QCon San Francisco 2008

Wednesday

Conference Party

Wednesday evening 19:45 all participants and speakers are invited to the QCon Conference Party with free food and drinks.  This is an excellent opportunity to mingle with speakers and network with other conference attendees.

Thursday

OpenSpace

Thursday night at QCon will feature an OpenSpace, hosted by Bruce Eckel (author of Thinking in Java). An OpenSpace is a attendee-generated self-organizing conference method. There is no preplanned list of topics, only time slots and a space in the main meeting room where interested participants propose topics and pick time slots.

This year we’re experimenting with combining an OpenSpace with QCon. Bruce will introduce the OpenSpace on Thursday morning after the keynote, after which all attendees will have a chance to add their own sessions to the schedule or sign up to attend any sessions. The OpenSpace will begin at 6:45pm on Thursday.
