Abstract
Sri Shivananda, PayPal’s VP of Global Platform & Infrastructure, will present a case study on what it took to successfully separate the technology of a Fortune 500 company after over a decade together. Separating PayPal’s technical infrastructure from eBay Inc. was no easy task, and Sri can share some key learnings applicable to engineers and developers at companies of all sizes. Attendees will gain insight into the muscle required to pull apart these technologies, while keeping the day-to-day business operating smoothly. A change at this scale requires a shift in the collective mindset, leveraging the best tools both inside and outside the company. A technology transformation also provides great opportunities for change. In the end, a technology transformation isn’t just about switching technologies. It requires organizational hacking, grit, being mission oriented and transforming legacy technologies.
