Abstract
At Alibaba, we aim to building a future infrastructure for global commerce. To achieve this goal, we have made significant advance in several key technical areas including (but not limited to) cloud computing, mobile technologies, trading platforms, information security, infrastructure service, search & ads, and data intelligence.
According to SortBechmark in 2015, for example, AliCloud used less than 7 minutes to sort 100TB data (outperforming ApacheSpark’s record, 23.4 minutes) and made four new records in total; these new records fully demonstrate AliCloud‘s distributed computing capacity. Another example is the application of machine learning in many areas ranging from speech recognition for customer service to default models for micro-loans.
Furthermore, Alibaba’s technologies support the largest e-commerce and online payment platform in the world — smoothly handling ~80K orders per second on average on November 11 2014. We believe technologies will continue serving as an engine to propel the business development of Alibaba in the future.
