Stefan Reich

 Stefan  Reich Stefan Reich has been developing since the Atari 600 days, with a special interest in concurrent programming and distributed systems. After finishing his M.S. in CS in Hamburg, Germany, he joined the VisiBroker for Java team at Borland/Inprise, worked on several releases and coauthored a book on the product. At Apple, he worked on WebObjects, the Apple application server, drove the Apple J2EE strategy, became committer to OpenEJB and JBoss, presented at two WWDC conferences, and became part of the XCode team. At Wells Fargo, Stefan served as architect on the online banking platform, then became involved in mobile banking research, and now is the the engineering manager for the mobile banking team.

Abstract: In this session, Stefan Reich will discuss the architecture of the mobile banking platform at Wells Fargo, a Fortune 50 company and one of the largest banks in the U.S. Wells Fargo's mobile platform supports banking applications on multiple diverse channels, including the mobile web site, the SMS banking component, and applications for the BlackBerry and iPhone. Stefan will primarily focus on the overall platform architecture, the complex enterprise integration challenges his team has faced, and the particular security concerns associated with mobile banking. Stefan will further cover the interesting and painful lessons associated with mobile devices and carrier networks, including performance, usability, information architecture, and testing.
