Workshop: [SOLD OUT] Developing Cross-Platform Desktop Applications With Electron
Imagine if you will, your Manager asks you to develop a new desktop application. You're so used to web development that you don't know how to get started. What should you do? Dig out your old VB 6 or WPF books or learn a new technology? Better yet, keep those web skills and use Electron. Electron is the cross-platform application shell GitHub originally built for the Atom editor.
The focus of this workshop will be to develop an Agile Project Tracking app. The workshop will allow you to leave with the following skills:
- Learn what Electron is, the technologies it is built upon, and how to work with it to build desktop applications with Javascript.
- Learn how to manage Electron's multi-process architecture and facilitate communication between processes.
- Learn how to take advantage of native operating system features on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Learn how to build native applications for the most popular operating systems.
- Learn how to test and debug Electron applications.
