Presentation: "Open APIs: 2011 State of the Market"

Track: Web APIs

Time: Thursday 10:35 - 11:35

Location: City

Abstract:

The landscape of the web as a platform is changing at a dizzying pace for the last few years. From thousands of new web APIs and mashups, to the rise of JSON and JavaScript, to new development tools, to a myriad of competing services calling themselves "platforms", keeping up isn't easy.

In this session we'll take a top-down look at this space in order to get an up-to-date overview of major players, technologies and trends.

Who are the leaders in the web API and platform as a service (PaaS) markets? Who's providing the next generation tools for building apps on these platforms? What are the primary debates and issues? What are the key technology trends and where should you look to see where this is headed?
