Abstract: 

As mobile applications become central to your business, the architecture of your front end and back end systems changes significantly. Technologies like Node.js and HTML5 help you build an efficient architecture for creating mobile solutions, but they are new to the industry. LinkedIn has been using these technologies to serve millions of users for the past 3 years.

 

This session will define the impact of mobile on architecture, explain our choices of HTML5 and Node.js and share some learnings about how to use these technologies effectively at scale.

Kiran Prasad joined LinkedIn in 2011. He currently leads the company’s mobile efforts, including phone/tablet and server solutions. Throughout his career, Kiran has lead & built industry changing mobile consumer products that help people communicate. Prior to joining LinkedIn, he was the Sr. Director of Applications at Palm Inc., a leader in mobile OS and device development, where he started and delivered webOS, Palm’s first Windows Phone, and was the tech lead for the original Treo. Kiran also held previous roles at Handspring. He received his MS from the University of Michigan in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics.
