Context is King: Enabling AI to Navigate Massive Codebases

Abstract

In this talk, Vinay Perneti, VP Engineering at Augment Code, will interview Anand Sankaran, Senior Principal Software Development Engineer at Workday, about using AI coding assistants in enterprise-scale codebases. Anand will demonstrate how he tackled Workday's complex metadata catalog by teaching the AI to document its own learnings, creating persistent contextual memory that evolved from a documentation task into a natural language business intelligence system. Attendees will learn practical workflows for AI adoption in large codebases, including how what started as a weekend project accidentally became an autonomous agent capable of analyzing HR data and providing succession planning insights. The discussion will address the balance between experimental freedom and the validation requirements necessary for production systems handling sensitive enterprise data.

Coding Agents That Don’t Code Like Interns: How to Get Real Work Out of AI Developers

Tuesday Nov 18 / 02:45PM PST

If you think AI agents code like junior engineers that's because you set it up to code like a junior engineer. AI is a tool, not a magic wand, and like any tool you need to take time to learn and sharpen it.
