Presentation: Building Pinterest's Mobile Apps

Pinterest ships new versions of its mobile apps to users every three weeks, providing a fast, visual experience that allows users to quickly scan through hundreds of "Pins", rich digital representations of objects, places, articles and experiences. We use real time data to understand how our users are interacting with our apps in order to develop new features and improve upon our platform.

Mike Beltzner will describe how we keep our "release trains" running on time, and the tools and techniques we use to keep our platform stable and responsive to the needs of our users.

Garrett Moon will dive into some of the technology we've developed to support the particular nature of Pinterest, allowing us to quickly load and display images in a dynamically laid out grid without quickly overwhelming memory and processing constraints. He will focus on how we combine our own technology with open source libraries to create a fast, responsive platform upon which we can innovate quickly.
